Experts at Orchard Facilities Management and law firm Chadwick Lawrence have joined forces to debunk the mass of rules and regulations facing local employers.
We will be presenting a series of 4 seminars addressing the biggest compliance concerns facing business owners.
Compliance is one of the main things that keeps employers awake at night and ever-changing legislation means the goalposts are always moving.
Gareth Henderson, managing director of Orchard FM, said: “We’ll be talking about how businesses can make sure they don’t put their staff and customers at risk and avoid the expense and unwanted publicity of being sued or fined.”
The opening seminar on March 7 will be the first event to be held by Orchard at its new headquarters, Independence House.
Advice from Orchard will be complemented by information from Nils O’Donoghue, a specialist regulatory and employment lawyer at Chadwick Lawrence who has worked extensively with businesses to support them through Health and Safety Executive investigations and other regulatory action.
Nils said: “I will be explaining the legal importance of following best practice and good record keeping, both of which can help avoid prolonged investigations and back pedaling to prove a case.
“The focus of the seminars will be about helping business owners minimise risk and be prepared but we will also look at the legal mechanisms if things go wrong and how to handle an investigation.”
The first seminar “Will I be Sued?” will be held at Independence House, Halifax Road, Huddersfield on Tuesday March 7 and will start with networking and breakfast at 8.30am with the presentation running from 9-10am. Topics will include carrying out risk assessments, making sure paperwork is up to date and what to do if faced with legal action. Places are free but must be booked in advance.
