Orchard FM is pleased to be able to offer support to Brighouse Central Foodbank - a vital service for people in our local area who are living below the poverty line.
One of the ways we are able to help is by providing space at our headquarters for the charity to sort and store donations and assistance in transporting food ahead of distribution at Brighouse Central Methodist Church.
We are continually overwhelmed by the dedication and hard work of all those involved and during discussions to find other practical ways to support the service it became apparent that funding for a supervisor would be extremely helpful. This means the charity now has someone in place to maintain the smooth running of the service on a day to day basis.
Many people find it difficult to cope with the everyday demands facing them and food banks like this one offer more than simply emergency food. They provide a sense of community and a point of contact with people who understand and are willing to help.
Brighouse Central Foodbank is open to those in need every Monday evening and Friday afternoon and can be found at Brighouse Central Methodist Church, opposite Wilko’s.
Rev. Mark Cheetham, of BCMC, said: “Our association with Orchard FM is significant and has made a real and practical difference to the work we do, allowing us to offer a well organised and efficient service to those in the local area who need our help.”
For anyone wishing to donate food, you can do so at the BCMC itself, or find collection points at Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores in Brighouse as well as at St Matthew’s Church in Rastrick.
