Gareth Henderson, managing director of Orchard Facilities Management, shared his views on the region's economy with other business leaders at a round table event organised by Yorkshire Business Insider this month.
The group of entrepreneurs met to discuss the challenges that lie ahead in 2016 and the opportunities that exist for jobs, prosperity and wealth in the Yorkshire region.
Gareth said the overall mood was positive with all those present in agreement that the current economic climate, with low interest rates and static inflation, supported growth.
"The expectation was very much that 2016 will be the year of true recovery and it seemed everyone was in agreement - we’re all really positive and confident about the years ahead," said Gareth.
He said the discussion around the table was focused very much on the future with business leaders talking about opportunities for investment and growth plans for 2016/2017 and beyond.
Gareth shared his own experiences of managing a business through periods of strong growth and meeting the challenge of recruiting suitable candidates.
“It’s important to have a strong vision and to keep staff engaged - giving them a real say and empowering them to make decisions," he said.
"We invest in our brand and marketing to entice the right calibre of individuals to join us and make Orchard even stronger,” he added.
The event was held in conjunction with Vistage and hosted by Grant Thornton UK LLP.
