Architect firm HGP has its IT and telecoms fully supported by Orchard Facilities Management, providing its highly skilled team with a reliable, integrated and wholly managed communications system that improves efficiency and helps their business grow.
Iconic UK Design
HGP Architects created the inspirational design for the £74 million Admiral’s Quay scheme for Southampton’s waterfront. The firm was also chosen for the new state-of-the-art Ben Ainslie team headquarters and training facility in Portsmouth.
A company that is delivering high profile, innovative projects for major commercial clients needs to be supported by technology that is smooth, effective and completely dependable.
Working closely with Orchard Facilities Management the company has completely redesigned its IT and communications infrastructure to suit the needs of a modern, growing business. Orchard has also recently installed a 75-handset software-based telecoms system to replace HGP’s outdated telephone hardware.
Managed IT Services
As well as designing, installing and configuring the firm’s computer infrastructure, Orchard Facilities Management provides 24 hour IT support for HGP’s Fareham and Leeds offices.
“If our systems develop a problem, day or night, we need someone on hand with the expertise to be able to fix things quickly. Orchard works with us to solve any issues that arise, responding quickly and providing an excellent service,” says director Matthew Williams.
HGP works with huge volumes of data which needs to pass seamlessly between colleagues and clients.
“Our teams work collaboratively so everyone needs to have access to the design work that’s held on our computer systems which means our backup must be watertight,” says Matthew.
The decision to move the in-house data back-up to a cloud-based system wasn’t taken lightly.
“This was a very different way of working and our data is such an important business asset but it’s been an excellent business decision and one that’s made everyone’s lives so much easier. It has given us confidence that our data is much better protected and very easily retrieved.”
Orchard uses its own equipment to store data at its data centre in Yorkshire, guaranteeing security and accessibility. Orchard never stores data offshore.
Orchard Facilities Management provides HGP with fast, reliable internet connectivity. High performance broadband improves efficiency and business performance and is the foundation of excellent IT and telecoms connectivity.
Orchard has recently upgraded HGP’s telecoms system to a high performance 3CX software-based system. The new system offers greater flexibility and full integration with the company’s computer systems.
The 75 handsets were configured in advance and fitted out of hours over two days. Orchard spent a third day on site training staff on the new equipment and making any final adjustments.
“The new system is more cost-effective to run and interconnects with our existing computer technology to create a single system that is fully supported by Orchard Networks as part of our IT contract,” says Matthew.
