Grantley Hall is an elegant 18th Century country house in North Yorkshire which is currently undergoing an exciting transformation to create a glamorous new luxury hotel and wedding venue.
The first guests will be welcomed in Spring 2019 and Orchard Facilities Management is fortunate to be part of the team working behind the scenes to ensure every aspect of the venue exceeds expectations when the doors open.
We were approached by one of our longstanding customers, Lucas Lee, for our expertise in IT infrastructure design and installation to support their work at Grantley Hall, where they are project manager and quantity surveyor. They knew that this project demanded a unique and imaginative approach and a co-ordinated view of the venue as a whole rather than its separate elements.
Traditionally in schemes such as this, each area of the business will commission its own IT services. In the case of Grantley Hall, the developers and owners are keen to implement a system that will flow seamlessly across the business and scale with it as it grows.
We are currently working as part of a very forward-thinking development team to create an IT infrastructure that is best in class. The systems must be able to handle the very latest technology and any future advanced technical systems and software that will continue to keep the venue at the forefront of the leisure and hospitality industry.
This venue is unlike anything else in the industry and our approach recognises and supports the innovation that is at the heart of the development. The spa and wellbeing area, for example, includes an underwater treadmill and cryotherapy chamber in addition to treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna and steam room. Each of the 47 bedrooms will be palatial and individually designed with a strong focus on in-room technology.
By understanding in detail how the venue is being planned and what features will be incorporated into every area, we have been able to design a state of the art IT infrastructure that will provide the functionality and scalability required.
Andrew McPherson, General Manager of Grantley Hall, said: “We have sourced some of the very best specialists in the region to work together as a team to help develop this beautiful building into something very special which will raise the bar in the premium hotel and leisure sector. The IT infrastructure is a critical element of the project and we are confident that Orchard Facilities Management has taken exactly the right approach to planning and installing our systems. This side of the operation needs to be up and running well before opening to allow us to progress with training and marketing so it is important that we have a partner who can work with us to meet our deadlines and objectives.”
Neil Ewing, managing director of Orchard Facilities Management, said: “It is rare to have an opportunity to work on such an exciting and innovative project and we are thrilled to be part of it. Often we find we are brought into a situation where IT has been planned in a piecemeal fashion, which presents real challenges, so it is refreshing to have been able to start with a blank slate and design the best possible strategy for the entire venue, which will give outstanding results both now and in the future.”
