“We chose Orchard FM because they’re clearly a company willing to pull out all the stops to support their business partners. They understand the pressures facing charities in today’s world and aim to deliver cost-effective and lasting solutions. Orchard FM enabled us to remain focused on our crucial work of combating human trafficking whilst knowing our IT and Communications were in good hands.” Graham Simmons, Hope for Justice.
Hope for Justice is a UK charity which has freed hundreds of victims from ‘modern day slavery.’ Human trafficking is a crime that often goes undetected and has devastating consequences. The Hope for Justice investigative hub in West Yorkshire rescues and protects victims. In addition, it trains frontline professionals like the police and social services to spot the signs of ‘modern slavery.’ The expert team made up of specialist investigators, lawyers and survivor liaison staff do invaluable work building ‘bridges of trust.’ Many victims have a fear of going to the authorities so the need for an outside third party is vital.
Orchard FM has been a long-term supporter of Hope for Justice and has also worked closely with the charity to streamline its IT and telecoms systems.
With a strong track record of building relationships with charities, Orchard understands the financial priorities facing this sector and the need to keep overheads at a minimum and we also feel passionately about the work that is being done by the organisation to tackle modern slavery.
When Hope for Justice identified the need to move offices, they turned to Orchard to deliver the core infrastructure to support the charity’s internet and phone systems.
IT Communications and Support
The project involved supplying network and communications equipment and re-routing power and phone lines to keep the charity online and operational.
Our role was to supply and deliver a communications rack, relocating relevant power and phone services to the new premises without impacting on operational activity.
Orchard’s specialist infrastructure team fitted two 24-port pre-wired network infrastructure patch-panels and cable management panels. A broadband router, firewall and 48-port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) network was installed. Two wifi access points were ceiling mounted to provide wireless network and internet access. The equipment was configured so that the firewall, switch and wifi access points could be managed remotely.
Graham Simmons of Hope for Justice said:
“Orchard’s partnership ethos was evident in the work they carried out for us and I was impressed with their professional and flexible approach. Moving offices can often present many technical issues but they took the time to listen. The whole process went very smoothly and efficiently.
“Now all our IT communications are in place we can continue our urgent work to prevent human exploitation and support victims of trafficking.”
Mike Pogmore of Orchard FM said:
“Having worked for many years with charities, we understand the challenges involved in running costs and ensuring budgets are allocated to those who need it most.
“I was instantly inspired by the team at Hope for Justice and their determination to tackle human trafficking. They do invaluable work and we’re pleased to be able to support their IT requirements now and in the future.
“By taking care of areas such as IT, we aim to free up time and commitments so organisations like Hope for Justice can focus on their key areas of work.”
